Grit Blasting

Before blasting...

Grit Blasting (commonly called Sand Blasting) is a versatile process and can be used to strip oxides, paint and other surface coatings from a base material.

We have experience of dealing with fragile items and delicate items. We are also able to mask areas that should not be blasted such as bearings.

Different materials and grades of abrasive are used depending on the component being blasted and the level of contamination to be removed.

Commonly used abrasives:-
Olivine
Aluminium Oxide
Garnet

We recommend that blasted items should be primed or treated immediately after being blasted to protect the metal and prevent the surface from oxidising. We offer a full priming and painting/powdercoating service on site. For more information on these services please look at the services tab.

Another type of blasting cleaning is bead blasting, this can be used for delicately removing low contamination from a metal. For more information on blasting blasting click on the button below.
